Field Manual
Version 2.0

Forces of Nature; a Day of Defeat Clan, was established in August 2001 with the goal of providing its members with an enjoyable adult oriented internet gaming environment. This environment, which is manifest in the clan game servers, forums, and website, is based on similar attitudes and beliefs toward gaming and a sense of fair play, as well as fun.

To realize our goal, we have developed an organizational structure to better serve the clan members, and we emphasize teamwork and cooperation to promote a sense of camaraderie and friendship. We plan to utilize that teamwork and cooperation in competitive matches with other clans with similar attitudes.

Gaming Beliefs and Philosophy

We believe cheating is the biggest threat to On-Line Gaming and we will not condone it in any form. Our server has several Anti-Cheat programs running. Taking advantage of programming mistakes (bugs, exploits, etc.) in the game engine, the mod or maps is also not allowed. We promote a friendly gaming environment and will not tolerate disruptive or abusive behavior including spam-flooding, racial / ethnic / sexist comments, team killing, door blocking, etc. We strive to participate in and encourage team play and team tactics.

Game Server Administration Policies

The role of an FON Server Admin is a special one. It falls to the Admin to ensure that our server provides an enjoyable gaming environment for our members and the public. Players are to be treated on an equal and fair basis. Avoid showing anger, retaliating with abuse, or rising to the taunts or actions of disruptive players. Try to remain detached and professional at all times. Be polite, social skills are an important part of being an effective Admin.

As an FON Server Admin, you must be familiar with our rules and abide by them as setting a good example for players and new users is important. The job Server Admin is a responsibility, and a position of privilege. You are trusted by the players to look after their interests.

When addressing a player for disciplinary reasons, Admins are to use the “tsay” (admin_tsay) command to get their attention. If the other players need to learn the same lesson, then the Admin may continue to use tsay. Otherwise, after getting their attention, switch to regular chat or private chat. When simply notifying players of something that doesn’t require a response, also use tsay.

Remember, be polite. Even if a player is abusive, explain what will happen to them, write down their WONID (in the console, type ‘status’ to get it) then slap, slay, gag or kick them as needed. If the player persists, keep kicking them and notify an Officer to ban them (E-mail, Forums, etc.)

Admin Abuse

To give Admins a better idea of what constitutes Admin Abuse, here are some examples. This is not a complete list.

Don’t force / threaten players to change teams just because you want a certain player on a particular team or because you or another player wants to have a certain weapon (such as sniper.) You may, however, force a team change if the teams are uneven and the players have been warned at least 3 times.

NO ADMIN SHOULD EVER BREAK ANY OF THE SERVER RULES THAT THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ENFORCING.
